Everything we have been doing since 1991 had only one purpose: to give fun, sport and health to the Maxibasketball players around the world.
When we start working for the 1° World Championship in Buenos Aires, we never thought the movement could arise to so many people in so short time. From those 38 starting teams to the last 128 in 2007, we growth 350%.
But the most important issue is the fact that we incorporate to those 8 first countries another 80 more practicing actively Maxibasketball in their own places.
Countries with and without a basketball background, as India or Italy, have become the icons of the next 2008. On one hand the organization of the next European Championship in Pesaro with the prognosis of more than 90 teams in Italy, a country full of experience in basketball, along with the election of Giuseppe Ponzoni as the World Maxibasketball Ambassador after winning the “Eduardo Award of Gold” in Puerto Rico, and on the other, the people from Chandigarh in India, creating the brand new Maxibasketball Federation of India, a country without any basketball familiarity.
This is what the category is doing in the world, teaching to everybody the advantages of sport in the second age, showing the fun they can get with constant home championships and international tournaments, allowing enjoying tourism to different places with the family, the couple and the friends, many of them from diverse places. Sometimes there are from so far that only a movement like this one can bring.
Meanwhile we are crossing the second age we are building a good quality of life for our third and fourth age. We are making the world, we are living the life and showing what different could be a world without any distinction, without countries edges or political believes accepting the diverse religions, nationalities and colors. We are the human beings encouraging the rest of the world to live in peace. We are teaching and learning that the world can be different showing us that it is possible.
When we realize what we are really doing, any effort is sweet and nice and the solutions to the inconveniences to participate in our home tournament become a gift.
Every new year open the possibility of new projects and illusions. We help planning events and making the fantasy come true. Championships in 25 countries will be organized and played with FIMBA guide. Montevideo, Pesaro, Rio de Janeiro and Prague are the next international destinies in the close run. Those will be the places where we will gather games and people, friendship and competition, dreams and glory.
