The best remedy for the uncertainty of the international crisis and its fears is a Maxibasketball Tournament.
This is demonstrated by two events, one following the other, that will be taken place in different parts of the world in May and June 2009.
The first one is a tournament organized in the city of Luanda, Angola, for the week of May 22nd - 25th. The local country, Mozambique, South Africa, Portugal, and Brazil will participate in this tournament. FIMBA patronages the event and will be sending two FIMBA Representatives and some of our organization authorities to ratify the event and give seminars and lectures in that continent. FIMBA looks to obtain the organization of the movement in those countries and to develop the idea of an African Championship taken place every two years. We know that the enthusiasm caused by Maxibasketball and its practice is contagious and inevitable. For that reason FIMBA promotes the sport everywhere in the world.
The other one is the World Championship, Prague 2009. There are over 160 teams, 33 represented countries, and over 3000 participants. It is a historical and world-wide record in the history of our movement. There has never been altogether as many teams competing in an international tournament in any given city. This shows not only the growth of the movement, but also defines the movement as a mean to connect people from all around the world.
Maxibasketball brings joy, extends people’s life, promotes sport practice, develops tourism, helps friends meet, and helps to overcome difficulties such as: the economic crisis, the fear of a press induced pandemic, age, physical pains and aches, and the mere pass of time. Because of all this we believe that Maxibasketball is the best medicine there is.
